Virginia Associations and Chambers of Commerce Endorse Governor McDonnell's "Top Jobs" Higher Education Legislation
RICHMOND – Fifteen Chambers of Commerce, and economic development and education associations have endorsed Governor Bob McDonnell's "Preparing for the Top Jobs of the 21st Century: The Virginia Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2011." Among those endorsing the higher education legislation are the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Virginia Business Higher Education Council and the Virginia Business Council. The Governor's "Top Jobs" legislation puts the Commonwealth on track to add more than 100,000 Virginians with college degrees over the next 15 years; places a greater concentration on science, technology, engineering, math, healthcare and other high-demand subjects; and, promotes affordable access through key reforms to promote long-term affordability.
