Governor McDonnell Announces 50 New Jobs in Fairfax County
– Cyber Security Firm NetWitness Corporation to Expand Virginia HQ –

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that NetWitness Corporation, provider of the world's most powerful network security monitoring platform, will invest $1.1 million to expand its Virginia headquarters and operation in Fairfax County. The project will create at least 50 new jobs.

Speaking about today's announcement, Governor McDonnell said, "NetWitness Corporation provides a critical defense technology in this complex technology age. This expansion further supports the company's recent designation as the third fastest growing company in the Washington, D.C. area by the Washington Business Journal, and the 21st Fastest Growing Private Company in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine. Fairfax County is obviously a good fit for the company, and I welcome the creation of more than 50 new jobs in addition to the investment NetWitness will make into the local economy."

"Cyber security is essential in time of increased risks to information systems, and NetWitness serves high-profile clients in both the local region and around the world," said Jim Cheng, Secretary of Commerce and Trade. "The company is thriving and I am confident that this expansion will be followed by continued future growth."

NetWitness® Corporation provides the world's most powerful real-time network security analysis platform.  NetWitness helps government and commercial organizations detect, prioritize and remediate complex IT risks that are invisible to other technologies.  NetWitness solutions are deployed in customer environments to solve a wide variety of information security problems including: advanced threat management; sensitive data discovery and sophisticated data leakage detection; zero-day malware activity discovery; insider threat management; and the continuous monitoring of security policies and controls. Originally developed for the US Government, NetWitness has evolved to provide enterprises around the world with breakthrough methods of network content analysis and situational awareness. NetWitness customers include government agencies around the world in Defense, Homeland Security and Intelligence as well as private sector organizations in banking, energy, telecommunications, retail, healthcare, education, technology, and many other sectors within Global 1000 organizations.

"We are excited to be expanding our Fairfax County headquarters and offering new employment opportunities in the rapidly growing cyber security field," said Amit Yoran, CEO, NetWitness Corporation. "Northern Virginia is the perfect locale for our headquarters because it offers us proximity to a critical segment of our customer base as well as a steady stream of talented job applicants for a variety of rewarding positions at NetWitness."

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (VDBA) will provide funding and services to support the company's recruitment and training activities.

"NetWitness is the kind of leading-edge technology company that is a perfect fit for Fairfax County," said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. "The company can take advantage of our highly skilled workforce, and its growth will build Fairfax County's reputation as a technology business center."
