MUMBAI, INDIA - Governor Bob McDonnell met yesterday with member companies of the Manufacturers' Association of Israel to discuss opportunities for business expansion in Virginia. The Manufacturers' Association of Israel has more than 2,000 companies in Israel, representing 90% of the manufacturing base in the country. The meeting with Governor McDonnell represented the first time that the Manufacturers' Association has met with a Governor to discuss expansion opportunities in the United States.
Speaking about the meeting, Governor McDonnell said, "This was a great opportunity to promote Virginia's business climate to Israeli companies with interest in expanding their business to the United States. As the best state in the country in which to do business, with a AAA bond rating, the highest concentration of IT workers in the nation and a location within a day's drive of over 50% of the U.S. population, Virginia truly has a great story to tell. I thank Nadav Kaplan, Chairman of Oran Safety Glass for sharing his positive experience in expanding his business to Emporia. I look forward to following up with these and other innovative Israeli companies interested in expanding their business to the United States and making sure that they consider Virginia first."
