This year's conference—hosted by Southern Growth Chair, Governor Bob McDonnell—will be held on June 13-14, 2011 at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
The South has become a leader in advanced manufacturing in aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical and other technology-oriented industries. But how do we prepare for emerging areas such as biomanufacturing, online distributed work, manufacturing modeling, and customized product on demand? How do we increase exports from our small and medium-sized companies? How do we inculcate innovation as part of standard operations among the region’s workers and managers? And finally, what kind of workforce skills, education, and training are necessary to make innovative manufacturing a reality?
